| I had a biopsy this past summer with WRI. They left a marker in place as per protocol. And now I am seeing recalls for certain markers. Largely it says if you aren’t having issues not to worry. But jeez…. Now I regret having even gone in for the procedure which turned out to be nothing - but left me with a large bill and a possible recalled piece of metal in my breast. Does anyone know which brand marker WRI uses. I have not received any communication from them regarding a recall, so am hopeful it is not this one, but the name sounds familiar. https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/medical-device-recalls/implantable-marker-recall-hologic-removes-biozorb-3d-bioabsorbable-markers-due-risk-patient?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery |

I don’t know, but I went back last week for breast MRI followup and they asked me questions that now seem to make sense re: the breast with the marker.
Thank you for sharing. Going to f/u with my surgeon. |
| Oh no! I have a marker too, have had it for maybe 15 years now. I don't understand how it could cause death given what they explain. It's all a mild list, and then DEATH at the end, even though no deaths were reported? Does not make sense. |
| I have a few inside of me, I assume they would have followed up with me if I had a recalled one. I'm not going to worry about it. |
| Oh no. I have 4 or 5 of them. Need to look at the recall. Thanks for the heads up. |
| From my reading, this doesn’t seem like biopsy markers but instead dissolvable markers used after a lumpectomy. Is that what everyone else thinks? |
| OP, calm down. The recalled product is not the tiny titanium marker “clip” that’s placed in breast tissue at the biopsy site. Instead it’s a plastic device of several centimeters height and depth that is used in radiation and chemotherapy and which the body ultimately reabsorbs after placement. |
| And if you get a marker clip and have surgery, the surgeon takes it out along with the tumor. |
That is correct. |
| Good to hear it is not the one used in biopsy. Thanks for the insight. The recall info was not entirely clear on the matter. |
| I'm confused is this used in breast biopsies or not? |
No. It’s used in lumpectomies. |
| And not always then. I don't have a marker. |
That is such bizarre logic. Be happy you didn't have cancer to make the cost and time worthwhile. |
| That does not sound good. |
