NYC on Christmas

Anonymous
We will be there December 24-26 with our college age sons. We are going to the Knicks game on Christmas day and a show on the 26th at 2:00.

Any recommendations for something to do on Christmas day? I think our day will be pretty full with the game and dinner reservations. But we will have a little bit of time. We do love to walk around the city, so any places you would recommend?

Walk up to Central Park, look at store displays. Zoo is open.

There are 2 Holiday Markets that I love. One at Union Square, the other at Columbus Circle. You could combine the Holiday market at CC with a Central Park walk. You can walk from the market up along the curving paths to 72nd Street. You can see Boat Lake, at 72nd Street, then curve up toward Central Park West and pass by Strawberry Fields, coming out at the Dakota. You can either catch a cab back down, or walk down along CPW. (Or catch the subway.)

If you want to go further afield, you can go to the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine up in Morningside Heights near Columbia.

Or head south and go to the 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan.

There's also the Intrepid Museum in Midtown West on the Hudson. (Not sure it's open Christmas Day.

Hang with the Jews and get Dim Sum in Chinatown! I like Golden Unicorn but I am sure there are other good places.

If you have any desire to go to the top of the Empire State Building it will be next to empty on Christmas.

The Highline is the nicest walk in the city.
