Motivational Time Standards over time and comparing

Anonymous

For all of the savvy math people - is there a way to look at the motivational time standards from the past and compare them to the current standards? Preferably a site that could highlight what is different.

So if I wanted to take the standard from 20 years ago (2000-2004) and compare it to today's, is there an easy way?

You could try and upload in Chat GPT and command to compare..

Actually don’t do that. For some reason that your USA swimming hand book doesn’t have motivational times. You can Google and find from the 90s though.

Pvswim.org/time_stds/ Has a lot of what you’re looking for.

Athletes in all sports have broken older records. This is how it's always been. Better coaching, training techniques, nutrition, legal supplements, etc.... Also, many athletes have sponsors or other organizations that allow them to eat, sleep, and train without working. That alone has contributed to a remarkable amount of development.

I saw a comparison of world records broken in track vs swim over the decades. They are much more numerous and significant in swim than track.
