Outdoor hanging bulbs that are not flat--do they exist, where to buy?

I sometimes see Christmas bulbs hanging on neighbors' trees outdoors, and it looks nice. But when I search online ("outdoor hanging Christmas bulbs," etc) all I find are various lights, and things that look like bulbs but are actually just flat plastic, not 3D. Is it possible the decorations I'm seeing are actually flat but they look like real bulbs? Am I searching wrong? Are people using indoor bulbs on outdoor trees? Is it a bad idea to do that (I can imagine them getting blown around in a high wind if they don't attach securely?)

Thanks for your reply! I'm not looking for anything that lights up, just larger-than-usual bulbs that I see hanging from some peoples' outdoor trees. Maybe I should take a picture. These are the weird flat ones I am trying to avoid, but something that would look like this except be actual 3-dimensional bulbs:
