| Which schools or through Parent-Teacher association go way out of their way to provide necessary school supplies, coats, holiday gifts, school merch, clothes, food, toiletries etc.? |
| Stop trying to make the schools be the entire social structure. It's hard enough to be schools. |
The MCPS scoldtroll is back. Any normal discussion or question gets shut down by the scoldtroll. A lot of the schools do this. We have a title 1 mcps sister school that we're reading finds and supplies for. Maybe see what your pta offers |
| Viers Mill has a weekly free food market, coats, eyeglasses, and even a holiday shoppe where every child can pick a gift to give to a family member that will be wrapped for them. There’s an amazing amount of community support of the school- but it is very needed. |
| Waters Landing has a food market on a regular basis, which is incredible for the community. |
Several schools have this. Which means the PTA of these and surrounding schools should focus on different things. Books for teacher classrooms, setting up volunteer tutoring programs or school clubs. |
| Heh. The PTA is almost nonexistent in a lot of schools, unfortunately. |
| Flora Singer Elementary. |
| I'm not on the east coast, so maybe I don't count, but literally every single public school I've ever known in the Midwest does this. |
| True of Midwest schools that are capable to support, it's holiday time all school year long. |
| I think a lot of MCPS schools do this. I know ours do in the RM cluster. |
| Any school that is designated a Community School by MSPS does this. Most Title 1 schools are community schools and there are a bunch of Community Schools that are not Title 1. |
| Clopper Mill ES in Germantown is a community school (also Title 1) and provides a ton of resources to families. We have a small but mighty PTA that plans monthly free family activities. |
+1 The Food Pantry Drive wishlist was fulfilled in like a couple of hours. I clicked on Amazon wish list to see what they needed, went to work, and then 3 hours later, I checked back, and the entire list was fulfilled. I was impressed by the RM community. |

I think most of the Elem schools do. My kid was at Burtonsville Elem and they did.
Not sure about our MS |
