Gifts for guidance counselor and vice principal

Anonymous
My son has a wonderful guidance counselor and assistant principal. They were helpful to him in switching classes when needed and through the college application process.

What kind of gift would you get them?

I usually do $25 gift card for favorite teachers but Godiva chocolates for admin.

I believe that MCPS sets a financial limit on gifts. Check the MCPS website for it?

That's very kind. I am sure they'll appreciate it. Do $20 for the teachers because that is the MCPS rule.

No one follows that rule in elementary schools.

No one follows that rule. $25 is fine. I have given $50 and up in a single gift card, and it has always been used

MCPS employees can lose their jobs if it is learned they accepted gifts more than $20. It's been $20 for a long time.

It should be a higher number. Do staff a favor and lobby the BOE to up the limit.

No one is tattling.

You can't always find a $20 gift card. So get a $15 one and add $5 cash if you want.

No one follows these stupid rules. Give whatever you would like to
