Is the Plaza hotel in NYC worth it?

Anonymous
Thinking of splurging on an NYC holiday trip next year. My kids are obsessed with the Home Alone movies, and the Plaza is where Kevin stayed in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Has anyone stayed, especially over Christmas? What can I expect to spend? It's hard to tell right now, because it looks like all that's available are the most expensive rooms ($10k+ per night). I'd be willing to spend about $2,500/night I think. Don't know if that'll do it.

Also interested to know if anyone's stayed in the Eloise room.

Thanks!

That price is for suites which is about all that's available for the current season. I'm thinking of booking the room right after the holidays this year so I can get the cheaper rooms, which around holiday time, I'm anticipating will cost about $2,500/night. My question is what has been others' experience with this hotel? Worth it for a holiday experience in NYC?

Yes. We had a room facing Central Park. Be sure to reserve for tea at Palm Court.

There are a ton of rooms available for less than 10K / night.

I'd stay at the Lotte NY Palace instead - then book the Eloise tea at the Plaza so you an go do that and see the tree/home alone stuff. The Plaza implemented a new rule this year that you can only enter to view that stuff if you are a guest of have a reservation at the restaurants.

I think when I was looking over the summer it was $1800/night for this upcoming weekend. We are staying elsewhere for $350/night (booked in June) and just looked for fun and its up to $750./night now. So def book early no matter where you stay.
