Odds of food borne illness: higher at a restaurant than food prepared at home?

I’m curious about what data shows: are you more likely to get sick from food prepared at home or at a restaurant (of any price point)? I probably should know the answer to this, but I don’t. Just curious.

Depends on whose home. My moms kitchen would get a sanitation rating of 34.

Some foods like raw salads and raw veggies are just problematic because of food supply issues. I would never ever eat at Sweetgreen or the like because who wants to read about the listeria cukes the next day...

I think the odds must be higher at a restaurant. You don’t know where the food came from, how fresh it is or how it was stored, if the chef and staff washed their hands or blew their nose in the soup or whatever. I think a small restaurant is probably riskier than a chain, especially if it’s not very successful.

I have often gotten sick from premade salads and sandwiches. I think I'm done buying them but then sometimes in a hurry I grab one. But those are the worst culprits for me.
