When do kids learn long division at MCPS?

Just curious? Does it depend on whether kids are fast tracked in math or not?

When you teach them at home.

+1 like everything else in this school district. school is to socialize and apparently for expecting richer parents to fund for poorer students social work

4th grade for 1-digit divisors, 5th grade for 2- digit divisors.

I am not sure why people are complaining about the 4th and 5th grade curriculums. They have plenty of "old-school" math and rigorous word problems. I'm not a fan of all of the strategies taught in k-2, but Eureka seems solid for upper elementary.

My kids in 4/5 math in 4th grade and they covered it in October/november.

Students are exposed to it in 4th grade while they are taught other strategies. They are not expected to master it until sixth grade.

That is ridiculously late. What has happened to education standards over the last 20-30 years?? When I was in (public) elementary school. We learned long division up to 2 and even 3 digits in 2nd grade.
