Oberlin admissions

DS is finishing his application, but heard someone at his school who applied RD got in today. Has anyone’s kid gotten in? A bit too late now, but wondering if some schools are rolling that don’t specify so or if Oberlin received fewer ED applications.

Our kid got in RD today, too! It was a surprise. He submitted all his applications by the typical 11/1 EA date, so Oberlin went out early.

Congrats! Did your DC get any merit aid info and if so, how much?

Mine too! Thx for posting—I told her to check portal and she is in with merit. $36000 per year merit

Same here. DD is waiting on ED results from another school and happened to notice an email late last evening that she was admitted to Oberlin having only applied RD. She had submitted all of her apps the same week as her ED and EA apps. She hadn’t checked the portal yet but I will encourage her to do so when she wakes up.

She was also offered $36k renewable merit scholarship.

For those that applied RD and got in, would you mind sharing your student's stats? DS has Oberlin on his "maybe" bucket but with that kind of merit, may be worth considering.

DS 3.97 UW, 1490 SAT, unofficially top 5% of class by virtue of 11th grade honor roll, 12 APs (8 5s, 2 4s, 1 3(unreported)), “standard strong” ECs and awards w/ leadership like president of NHS, student tutor, NM commended, etc.

I’m the earlier poster whose DD got merit. She was rejected from her ED so this was some consolation. She is 4.0 uw /35 ACT and good ecs

My student hasn’t heard from oberlin. For those that heard, did you have the CSS filled out? CSS schools aren’t his top choice so I haven’t prioritized it.

Same thing for our DD. She submitted her Oberlin application together with all her EA applications because it was ready and heard yesterday. NOVA public, 3.7/4.1, 1510 SAT, 11 APs (including senior year), some unique ECs, lots of community service, excellent (IMO of course) essays.
