Good news lost property story

We left some expensive headphones on a plane overseas and the airline (United) tracked us down from an address label inside and we got them back.

I'm here to advocate for labeling your stuff. This is the third time we've had labeled items returned. (I live with absent-minded folk).

Thanks for the tip OP!

Great! I had a similar situation with headphones on the streets of NYC while visiting. My son dropped them on in front of a neighboring hotel but he had an airtag attached so they were turned in to security and we actually got the back! As a former New Yorker I was amazed.

I left a nice coat on a plane and it had a car rental contract with my name on it in a pocket and I called American’s desk at the airport baggage claim that afternoon and asked if the cleaning crew found it and they told me no and sent me pointless emails for 4 months saying they were still looking for it. 🙄

I agree. I have had success with at least my phone number on items.

That’s great. I lost a pair of expensive headphones in a hotel room and they were only turned in as “lost” after we called the hotel twice. We had moved from the hotel to a condo nearby, so my husband said on the second call that he was going to come by to inspect the room. Five minutes later they called back and said they had “found” them.

On another trip, we forgot a small iPad with a white cover - blended into the sheets and didn’t see while packing in a hurry. While not turned into lost and found until we called, the hotel was totally on it, even returning it via next day delivery at no charge though I was quite clear that I would pay for it.

About 20 years ago, my DH left his wallet in a cab in NYC. A week later it showed up in our mailbox— every dollar accounted for and no attempt made to charge any credit card. And no return address or way to send the cabbie a reward. It still amazes me.

I dropped my car keys somewhere. The nice person who found it dropped it in our library book return box as I had my library tag on it. The library called me and I got my fob back!!

Last year family left all their wrapped Xmas gifts at a gate at BWI. Realized when we landed several hours later. Called BWI and someone went and found the bag of gifts and they were there wrapped and unbothered.

A few years ago, my teen’s phone fell out of her pocket on a TAP air flight from Lisbon to Marrakech. We thought it was a goner, but it was at lost & found when we returned to Lisbon a week later. Cleaning staff found it & turned it in.
