Bennifer Revisited

It got people to stop pitying her for being cheated on by A-Rod.

Now nobody associates her with A-Rod anymore. Good public relations tactic. And his rep can be cleaned up too.

Yes, good for them that they have exes who actually parent.

You know it's probably better for the kids to see them truly happy and not in dysfunctional relationships.

Except both these fools introduce their kids to every person they date. So clearly they’ve seen more than one dysfunctional relationship.

+1 They are two very self-centered individuals. They deserve each other.

This was the whole plan. I wonder how long they’ll keep up the charade.

Wow. I’ve never seen either look so…happy.

No responsibilities in the world...just each other...like teens. So glad their children have responsible parents back home to take care of them.

You sound jealous.

Rarely and for photo ops. Their ex spouse's are the ones doing the daily parenting.

Don't know about JLo's kids but you all were absurdly happy that Jennifer Garner had primary custody of her three kids when Affleck was on that bender with Ana de Armas.

What's changed? Primary custody means defacto sole custody. JG's got this.

I would hope they wouldn’t do this as they both have children, and Jlos kids in particular have had their lives uprooted for the relationship.

DP. Not jealous. Think it’s kind of cool to be that in love again in your 50s. But agree that it’s not cool that they never seem to see their kids.

Hardly, but I do see the effects that this type of parenting has on kids when they aren't fortunate enough to have at least one parent who is responsible. Kids want their parents with them. Just don't have kids if you don't want the responsibilities that go with having them.

She's clearly worried about it. Shoes her kids how to hop from one warm fiance's bed to the next.

“All I can tell you is that I have seen firsthand the difference representation makes because I have seen, over and over and over and over, women of color approach Jennifer and tell her what her example as a strong woman and a woman succeeding and demanding her fair share in the business world means to them,” notes actor/director Ben Affleck. “I am in awe of what Jennifer’s effect on the world is. At most, as an artist, I can make movies that move people. Jennifer has inspired a massive group of people to feel they have a seat at the table in this country. That is an effect few people throughout history have had, one I will never know and one I can only stand by and admire with respect.”

That’s a really substantive, thoughtful, nice thing too say.

Yeah, it's lovely and humble and true.

But she is not likely humble though...nor has she seemed particularly thoughtful and generous throughout much of her career...now at midlife she is perhaps starting to think beyond herself a bit (and that's a big maybe) . But there have been many people throughout recent history actually who have worked and inspired people to "have a seat at the table". And what table are we even talking about? The music industry? Opening doors to people who have been under represented in the arts? Does he mean she opened doors like Aretha Franklin, or Ella Fitzgerald or Tina Turner or Diana Ross? She's like RBG? As in her work, as a trailblazer under great opposition, actually impacted millions of people in real and sustained ways? Is she known for her ongoing, decades long philanthropy or attempts at raising consciousness like Oprah Winfrey? Or her moral courage to take a stand and speak about the lived realities of powerless women like Toni Morrison or Maya Angelou? She is not in the same league as any of these people. I don't know what he is talking about. Even Martha Stewart, a similar person who loves luxury, branding, money and the best of everything ....opened a thriving center to serve women's health at one of the major hospitals in Manhattan. So people approach jennifer lopez inspired by her talent and idealizing her beauty and financial success and power? That's called celebrity. If I am missing or unaware of any actual, human rights, civil rights or ongoing philanthropy spanning decades that Ms Lopez has created or sustained....her "good works" so to speak, or her trailblazing work that has contributed to real effects beyond her just passively being a "role model" by doing her thing (which is i think what he means). Please enlighten me, maybe I am really missing something.

It's interesting how in your long list, you didn't have a single Latinx woman. Which answers your question, I would think.

You see this couple once very two weeks on a date and you assume they don't see their kids?

How rude. I guess I can assume if your husband bothers to take you out on a Friday night you don't see your kids the other 6.5 days of the week?

+1
just "doing her thing" and being recognized for it means very different things to non-white women compared to white women, but I'm not sure pp (most likely a white lady) won't acknowledge that part.
