We're headed to Charleston for only one night in early January. I'm looking for recommendations for hotels - we like lux and don't mind spending some $$ - and a great restaurant for lunch and dinner. I've looked at Charleston Place and Hotel Bennett if anyone has any feedback on either of those. |
Not familiar with Hotel Bennett. Charleston Place is lovely in an old school way. My favorite is a suite at the Dewberry. |
I used to take my lunch breaks and walk through Charleston Place. It's really lovely; especially when decorated for Christmas.
I feel like some of the best newish restaurants are a bit of a hike from there, but certainly walkable if the weather is cooperative. There's The Ordinary, Chez Nous, and Chubby Fish all on upper King. I'd go to any of those. |
We have stayed at both and it is no competition - Hotel Bennett is far superior - it is new, luxe, has excellent customer service, and conveniently located. It is one of our most favorite hotels. |
Zero George was excellent but it's been a few years since I was there. |
We stayed at the Spectator a few years ago and absolutely loved it. One of our favorites anywhere. Excellent service. |
Hotel Bennett is fabulous and far less of chaotic mess…which is the touristy vibe at Charleston Place (which attracts tons of tourists in the lobby and connected shops and restaurants).
The Patisserie at Hotel Bennett is amazing. |
Loved hotel Bennett when we went about 2 years ago. |

Loved the Loutrel! |
