I am intrigued and wonder what peoples experience have been. I was successful on WW in the past ( 20 pounds twice) but feel like my weight issue is largely due to an uncontrollable carb craving. I think a drastic switch like the phase one is what I need to jumpstart. Have others used this and transformed to a lifetime south beach person successfully?
I am a WW alum. In 2001, I lost 40 lbs. I was 30 years old at the time. Well, years later, after marriage, a baby, and general aging, it was all back on again. I tried WW again, but had no success. This time, the weight was settled in my rear and middle, unlike 10 years earlier. So I gave SB a try ... a month later, I'm 12 lbs lighter. The phase one of SB was really the jumpstart I needed - I lost 8 lbs those first two weeks, and I've continued to lose. I'm combining this diet with exercise (1 hour day/ 5 days week), plenty of water and 8 hours of sleep a night. I really am motivated to lose the weight AND find a lifestyle to help me maintain it. It sucks to get up at the hour I do to exercise, but it's what I need to do to lose the weight. And, I have a super supportive DH, which helps immensly. Good luck to you.
That sounds like my situation so I am going to give it a try- congratulations on your loss!

OP,
Try SB, it's all about finding what works. I lost 30 on WW this year, want to lose 15 more but am stuck due in part to heat-induced inactivity. (We're almost at 60 days in the 90s this year!). Good luck! |
Another carb addict here. I tried SB and it definitely works, but it is hard totally cutting carbs. I'm someone who never really feels satisfied after just a salad, even though my appetite isn't huge. The trick is, that I found, is just mentally gearing up for a tough two weeks (the intro period when there's no carbs) and telling myself I can do anything for just two weeks. Of course, then you need to make sure that once you hit that two weeks, you move into the next phase (limited carbs) rather than binging on all of the food you missed.
