Bermuda lodging

Trying to decide if staying if flying and paying for hotel in Bermuda is worth it versus taking a cruise out of Baltimore. We went to Bermuda a decade ago on a cruise out of Baltimore and it was really fun, but getting to the beaches was a little difficult from the boat. So I'm considering this time flying and staying at a beachside hotel/resort. Recommendations for a mid to low price point (for Bermuda)?

This is for a family of 4 with 2 teens. Either way, we'd do a 7 day trip and this would be late July/early August.

We LOVE Pompano Beach Club. It's a bit of a long taxi ride from the airport, but once you're there you never need to leave. They have a room rate that includes breakfast and dinner. Gorgeous beach, nice pool, nice amenities. The hotel has a shuttle bus and also an island bus stop at the end of the driveway. We've been there a few times and never really consider staying elsewhere when we go.

When we took a cruise out of Baltimore we’d thought, based on the itinerary, that we had two days in Bermuda. It turned out to be less than 24 hours.

I’d highly recommend flying to Bermuda over the cruise. Also, imo, the cruises out of Baltimore are terrible. At least Vision of the Seas was.

This---A cruise from Baltimore to Bermuda will have you spending majority of time on the ship, in colder waters. Fly there and enjoy all of your vacation on the island. Lots of great choices and it's a lovely island. Extremely safe. Get a bus pass, since scooters are not the easiest with teens.

We just returned from a trip to Bermuda and stayed there. The staff could not be more friendly.

Thanks, this looks perfect!
How many days do you think is ideal, including travel from DC?

Our trips have all been short -- just 3 nights -- because it's such a quick flight for us there from NYC (our home airport). We take an early flight, are on the beach by 1pm, have 2 more full days, and fly home midday on the 4th day. I would love to plan 5 or 6 nights, giving us opportunities to explore the island a bit, but shorter trips have been really fine and easy for us. If you have a full week you might consider going elsewhere and saving Bermuda as a quicker getaway (though I'm admittedly unfamiliar with flight options from DC).

Direct flights from DC to Bermuda are only available in the summer. Otherwise you need to fly from Newark or Charlotte. We just went and flew from Newark on United. It was a bit trying. Newark has lots of delays due to a shortage of air traffic controllers. Leave lots of time to connect between flights. We almost missed our flight to Bermuda.

Thanks. Good to know.

There are more flights now. I think it’s called Bermudair out of Baltimore.

OP here - our trip is in summer, so my quick search yielded several flight options.
We booked the Pompano Beach Club and are so excited! Their communication has already been top notch.

That's exciting! I'm the pp who suggested it. I hope you enjoy!

Also, there's no bad room there, though some may be more updated than others, and there are lots of stairs (it's a very vertical island, which helps guard against hurricane flooding but makes it challenging for people with limited mobility). We always get one of the rooms w a bedroom and a pull out sofa in the living room for our kids.

That sounds like what we booked and we are all very capable of stairs! Any tips on favorite things to do there? We'll be there 5 nights, so 4 full days. Also curious how the dinner plan worked.

When we visited on the cruise we did the fort by the dock, Hamilton one night (crowded and hot!), Horseshoe Bay Beach, and a glass bottom boat cruise.

This time, I think we'll just do beaches, walk that trail, maybe see the caves? It sounds like the kids can fish right at the hotel, which they'll love.

You can fish right off the dock area, and there are mats for floating on. The water is shallow so you can walk way out. The snorkeling from the beach is amazing, and you can kayak out to the reef (you pay for the kayak rentals). There's a fun arcade game room if your kids to want a break from the sun, and there are board games to borrow in the lobby. It's truly such a wonderful place.

The breakfast and dinner plan makes it very easy. Everything except alcohol is included. I think technically if you order extra entrees or something you get charged, but I'm not sure if they always do. Lunch is typical pool food, but the portions are generous. Sunday buffet is fantastic. The mixed drinks are great.

This has me thinking of when next we can go...
