| If your child plays on a less popular sport like golf, tennis or wrestling team, what has their experience been like? My child is deciding between tennis or playing on the football team. |
| Wut |
| Both tennis and football are really popular/competitive |
| Anyone can be on the soccer team, but only the country club kids do the tennis. |
Not true |
| What aspect are you asking about? My child plays tennis and enjoys it. |
| Well this is a no brainer |
Tennis costs almost as much as golf to be good at. |
Do enough football and you will have no brain, anyway. |
|
If he doesn't know how to play a sport already, he can find success in football, wrestling, xc, track without years of prior training.
Golf and tennis he might not make the team - the other kids have been getting private lessons since they were toddlers. |
| He would make V tennis or freshman football. Obviously I think one is the right choice. |
The better tennis teams are packed with kids that have probably spent $10-$20K on tennis before 9th grade. |
Aren't they different seasons? Why can't he do both? |
|
Does he prefer the team aspect of playing a sport, i.e. having a big team around him both on and off the field, or is he okay being out there on the court by himself under pressure?

Wrestling has been really awesome for my sons, who are also golfers. Wrestling teaches so much discipline and it’s been great for them: totally recommend, especially if you have a little or big guy/ teams always need heavyweights and featherweights. Good team bonding in an individual sport.
