| They are all over the place now and the fines for ticket are significant. Anyone get out of paying speeding ticket recently due to on camera violation? |
| Ugh. Can’t our stupid R governor do something useful for once and get these outlawed? Hate speed cameras with a passion. |
| I like them because they actually change behavior. Wish they would put up more of them. |
|
The locations are posted online and there are signs before the intersections warning of the cameras. And it says online the fine is $100, which actually seems low to me.
Also how hard is it to just not speed? |
| I’ve never gotten one. It’s not hard, I just….drive the speed limit. If you’re getting a ticket you’re going what 11+ mph over? Even in a 55 zone that’s 20% over the limit. |
Real "teacher you forgot to assign homework" energy here |
I’ve lived in Arlington for 25 years. I had no idea there were speed cameras, despite the fact that I rarely go the speed limit. I’ve gotten a ticket via a camera in DC but never here. I’m off to look their locations up. |
|
I live in one of the new speed enforcement zones. We’re close to a school, and have had several pedestrian-vehicle accidents with injuries. Fines are now doubled because that’s better than having kids hit by speeding cards walking to school.
Why don’t you just slow down? |
They changed the limit and it's now 20 mph on one side of the school zone and 25 mph on the other. It's hard to know what the speed limit is if Arlington County keeps changing it. |
Are there no signs posted? |
| They are limited to school and work zones, and the cameras are active only when the school zone lights are flashing. OP, what’s your problem? |
Yes, but they keep changing the limits. It's also on a street that there isn't a school technically (school is up hill and this is street behind it) so it doesn't look like a school zone. |
|
Aren't they only in school zones, and during start/stop times?
|
GTFOOH PP, you drive perfectly all the time
|
Can you read the signs? Like as your driving can’t you just look at the signs? If it’s 25 and you are driving at least 11 over that’s 44% over the limit and not insignificant. Just drive 25 and in either zone you won’t get a ticket. |
