This feels so dumb but I am longing for matching clothes hangers in my closet. Do I want wooden hangers? They’re kind of bulky and loud, right? Those velvet things you can get in packs at home goods? Are those nice, and do they hold up? Is there some hanger that people who are accustomed to The Finer Things in Life know about and I don’t?
DH and I share a closet so should probably need to work for men’s shirts too. TIA |
| I have mostly wooden hangers. I have a couple that are padded with a satiny covering but came from my mom and they are decades old. I also have an old house with small closets and don't have acres of space to hang things so I change my closet contents with the season. |
| All white plastic hangers. Clean and neat. I hate those thin velvet space saver ones. |
| I prefer black velvet. The best prices are at Sam’s Club or Costco. Wooden hangers are too heavy and take up too much space. |
| Cream slim velvet |
| All wood. Look so much nicer than plastic in my closet |
| Plastic for the bedroom closets. Wood in the coat closet we use for guests. |
+1. I upgraded to these from white plastic 2 years ago and I'm very happy. |
| I have 20 purple velvet ones I got about 20 years ago. Then half a dozen white plastic ones with clips. I use the white ones to hang clothes that need to dry, like bras. |
Going to copy that! |
| Mommie Dearest would beat you to a pulp if you used wire hangers. |
| Mine are mostly wood. I also have a few velvet hangers for slippery items and sleeveless summer dresses. I hate velvet for everyday items; I like to just grab and go and it’s a process for remove items! And I have a few with wider, rounded shoulders for things like cardigans and blazers. |
| I really like the velvet hangers but my mother found out and said “are you a psychopath” so I don’t think there’s a single answer. |
| Wire<plastic><velvet><wood> |
I use these purely because we have so many from DH's dry cleaning lol. I'm too cheap to spend extra money on fancy hangers when I have almost unlimited supply of these free wire ones
I do have some heavier plastic ones for the coat closet. I dont think the wire ones could hold some of the heavier winter jackets. |
