Large Red stripe down middle of Columbia RD NW

Anyone know why? The red stripe on 16th St is the Bus lane. I can't imagine it's the same for Columbia Rd.

It is a now conservative lane. If you are a card carrying republican you will now have an express lane. Everyone else will be forced to one lane.

The bike lanes are normally green. It's just odd. I saw them painting the street last night. No one from AM from Nextdoor or my neighborhood chat seems to know. DCUM is usually all-knowing so was hoping for a clue. I will keep asking around

Due to the changes to the street, it is probably painted red because it will be a new suicide style travel lane with cars driving in in both directions because the lanes are blocked by delivery vehicles and ride shares doing pickups and drop offs.

Uhm, it’s obviously a bus lane, just like all other bus lanes in the city. Signed, a Columbia rd resident that has been following the construction. (Btw - you can google Columbia rd bus priority project to get info on this) should be first google link that pops up
