Our family stayed at Tulemar a couple Spring Breaks ago and good god, we never repeat holiday destinations, but I think I could go back to CR again and again! We had combined the trip with a visit to both Arenal and Bajos Del Toro (El Silencio Lodge is also amazing) but we all said if we returned, it would be to MA again.
What we most loved about Tulemar was their private beach and local dining spots like Emilio's and Milagro - easy, simple, casual local fare. Unfortunately, booking Tulemar did not work out this year. We are returning to CR late March, and considering whether a place around the same area to enjoy public beaches + the dining spots we loved - OR should we try Uvita, not far from MA and looks really pretty? This would be 5 nights (via SJO) and we aren't really wanting to rent a car. Seeking R&R. Maybe rafting/surfing for a day maybe, but we had done ziplines, waterfall + tours, rafting. This visit more about exploring - maybe seeing different beaches? Honestly, I've been all over the world and seen some of the most famous beaches, but I gotta say that little Tulemar private beach took my breath away. Sounds crazy but for us, it's every bit as lovely as Tahiti, Grace Bay, Sugar Beach, Flamenco Beach, Pink Sands, et. al. Would we love Uvita? |
The Manuel Antonio park is great, and there is beautiful locals beach Biesanz. Town is weirdly unwalkable but it’s very easy to get a cab (though fares a bit outrageous). |
There is a resort at the top of the hill at Biensanz (a hike but connected by trail). We did not stay there but the restaurant and pool were nice |
If you want to stay in Manuel Antonio try Shana by the beach. I liked uvita very much but we had a rental high in the hills. |
