Do the schools have the cogat scores?

Who actually sends the parents the scores and in pool letters?

Does the school AART email us?

The in pool email comes from Central Office, advanced academic programs email address.

The title will likely be universal screener referral. Last year it came at 3 pm on Dec 14th, the day before the AAP referral deadline.

Our school doesn't have the results yet and said they were promised by winter break by central office.

Really? Literally the day before?

We were told we would likely find out right before but no time. I thought it would be a week

Is the in pool decision based on scores at a given school? And is it only CogAT scores or also NNAT?

I have been told my other parents that it is the top 10% per school using the average of the NNAT and Cogat. I have no idea if this is accurate.

I do know the cutoff varies from school to school for in pool.

In years past, your child only needed a score higher than 132 or 135. I thought it was 135 but have seen 132 on DCUM.

I believe they switched to top 10% for diversity. However, it hurts the kids at high SES schools. I’m sure in schools like McLean or Vienna, you need 140+ on both tests to be in pool. Not sure what it would need to be in Annandale.

First, last year CogAT had a testing glitch and the test ended up happened like almost a month late in Nov. So the score came out on 12/14. This year without the testing glitch it should come out earlier.

Second, why would you rely on that "a week" lead time? No matter your child would be in pool or not, just fill out family referral and be prepared.
