Silver Diner is not authentic, but it plays the role well if they are looking for chrome and juke box and milkshake theatre.

| Agree. Or Ted’s Bulletin, which is even in the burbs now. I took some German friends there and they were delighted— they Instagrammed the whole meal. |

I visited in 2022, it's one of the only things that's the same since my first visit in 1989. The food was good, too. |

Definitely not Ted's (which is a fine restaurant, but not a diner).
Tastee's is a true diner. But for a similar authentic experience, also consider Market Lunch, Jimmy Ts, or Tune Inn. Market Lunch has really good food; the other two have mediocre food but great atmosphere. |
