| We don’t use a lot of salt while cooking and do a lot of stuff from scratch. We have finishing salts that we use at the table. After eating out for a week I felt almost sick and bloated. There was just so much salt in and on everything. Anyone ever experience this? |
|
No, I didn't eat out at all. Everything was made and served at home.

| Salt is one of the most important factors in cooking (and bodily health!). I'm glad people are finally seasoning their food. |
| I've never eaten at a restaurant so I'm unfamiliar with the food restaurants serve. |
|
I use plenty of salt.
It's one of the most important ingredients. |
| No. |
|
Wait until OP discovers butter. |
Then why did you respond to this thread? |
DP I think that was sarcasm |
| Yes, I’ve eaten at restaurants and had a “salt hangover” the next day. It’s disgusting. I don’t eat out any more, due to bloating etc the following days. |
Yep. The salt load is so high at these restaurants. Even high end restaurants just use way too much salt. Tom Colicchio on Top Chef typical critique is more salt. I think he has blow out his taste buds after all the years in a professional kitchen. |
| Ehh, all of the food I ate over the holiday had a crap ton of salt in it. We ate mostly at home but we season well and yes, it's a lot of salt. That's what makes it taste good. Sure, I'm slightly bloated but for me life is too short to eat bland food. I'll work out this week, drink lots of water and get back to normal in a few days. Life goes on. |
Maybe you are salt sensitive, and the 5 time James Beard Award winning chef knows what he’s talking about. |
| This is why we have a persinal chef. |
