Universal’s Cabana Bay resort

Would you stay here? The theme looks great. I can’t tell if it’s a bit run down or remains nice and new-ish from photos but what was your experience?

It looks fine from the outside. We prefer Aventura since it’s on the closer side of the road and you can walk to the Sapphire Falls boat.

We stayed there in June 2023 and it was great. Outdoor hallways, yes, and the pool was crowded when we were there (probably at the busiest times). But the rooms were clean, staff was great, and nothing felt run down. We plan to stay there again - I was shocked how much space the fifth sleeper room had!

Thanks PPs! Is it better to get an exterior door or interior?

I would prioritize proximity to the bus stop over the door type myself - it was a long walk with tired kids at the end of the day!

My kids enjoy the lazy river, and it’s easy to go to universal studio by the shuttle or walk, so we always stay at cabana bay. It’s not run down at all, and like people said it’s clean and comfy. We always get room with interior door but it’s just a preference.

Just to be clear OP, it’s easily a 30 minute walk to the nearest main gate, IOA. Plan to take the bus anywhere except Volcano Bay.

We had a great time here! It was fun and the walk didn’t seem very long (I truly doubt it was 30 min). We took a winding path through gardens. We did take the bus/tram (easy) to go to the other park. Would recommend.

With kids? Easily. It’s almost 15 minutes from Royal Pacific and Cabana Bay is nearly twice as far.

It also doesn’t make sense to walk to one and shuttle to the other. The shuttle stop is the same for both (inside the main parking garage.)
