Please settle a debate:
Does blending things, say steel cut rolled oatmeal, end up destroying its fiber? While the ultimate fiber content is the same, does the blending process break down the fiber that would otherwise get broken down and absorbed differently (re: better for you) in your stomach? Or does it not matter and blend on? |
Fiber does not get absorbed by your body either way |
You are right. I meant the absorption of other things and things that fiber can affect, like lower cholesterol levels, or slowing digestion for blood sugar levels. |
As long as you use it / drink it all you get all the fiber.
Seriously - it's not complicated. |
No |
cool cool I'm going to vitamix away! |
No. Blending does not destroy the fiber.
Juicing removes a lot of it. Blending does not. |
Glycemic index will be worse blended |
My former WW leader always said to eat your fruit, not drink it, because of the fiber. You want your body to work to break down the fiber. |
But juicing it removes the fiber and putting it in a blender does not. |
Less chewing is involved after blending. Don’t eat it too fast. |
No it won't. |
Microwaving zaps all the vitamins out. |
