Is here anything better than discovering a “new” author who has written a bunch of books?

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning when I read an author I never have before, love the book, and find out they have written a bunch of others. Just happened to me with John Banville. Had never heard of him, read a review of a recent book and borrowed it from the library. Loved it, and it appears he has a whole long series with the key characters. I see a great winter ahead! I am already planning January weekends of reading one of his mysteries while beef stew simmers on the stove. (Also, I am a recent empty nester so this is especially exciting for me).
Anyone want to share your recent “discovery”?

This is one of my favorite things. Two recent discoveries for me: Karen Joy Fowler and Jennifer Haigh

I'm reading The Drowned right now - wrote about it on the December thread, first post.

I agree, his books are exceptional.
