| What is the best book you read in 2024 and why? I unfortunately read several not great books this year, but I think the best one I've read is Legacy, by Uche Blackstock. Harvard educated doctor walks in mother's footsteps and discusses disparities in U.S. health system. Very eye-opening. |

Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman
No one has ever understood me as much as that book
|
| I’m not ready for this yet! Trying to squeeze in 2-4 books before NYE. Who knows— maybe one will be my best book of the year! |
| My favorites that were published in 2024 were James (F) and Challenger (NF). |
| The Women. I’d go to the library to get books on hold and there were always a dozen copies waiting to be picked up. All. Summer. |
|
James, Percival Everett.
So well written, slyly funny, enjoyed revisiting this classic narrated from the point of view of a slave. |
| Op. I've read every one except for challenger. Yes, James was also up there; excellent! |
| The Wedding People by Alison Espach. So good! |
| Creation Lake |

Matrix. The prose was gorgeous and the story compelling. I love anything that touches on mysticism.
Oh, and thank heaven for women writers who write about women whose stories revolve around something other than their relationships with men. |
Let me fix that for you: *an enslaved person* |
That was a great one. A thoughtful meditation on life’s purpose in the guise of time management. Really well written too. |
| All Fours, Miranda July. Sexy, weird, insightful, honest. Hit me like a bullet train. |
| Deacon King Kong by James McBride |
| I read a lot of book this year, many not published in 2024. Of the ones published in 2024, James was the best. |
