Hi all,
I'm looking to buy myself a new solid gold necklace to use as an everyday piece. I've been looking for a few weeks but I can't seem to make a decision. My requirements are below -Solid yellow gold, (14k or 18k). Ideally no stones, but a small stone in a mostly gold design could work. -I prefer necklaces that come to a 'V' shape like a pendant, drop necklace, or layered pendant shape. This is not a hard requirement, but the necklace must look good with a V neck sweater. -No initials, words, or astrology symbols. I don't like cutesy or pop culture references. -Needs to work with classic, preppy clothes but is not the same thing everyone else has. I'd love a necklace that is artistic and sophisticated -Budget is $500 but flexible I have a tentative shortlist (below). I'd really appreciate your feedback and links to other pieces you'd recommend! https://oradina.com/products/greek-lion-medallion-necklace https://www.etsy.com/listing/890932088/14k-gold-pendant-necklace-cluster?click_key=def54988fb4130b8de5665cbd9b4c49416e0d7f4%3A890932088&click_sum=d004cfc4&ref=shop_home_active_5&pro=1&frs=1 https://oradina.com/products/hampton-pendant-necklace https://oradina.com/products/14k-yellow-gold-greek-coin-adjustable-length-layered-necklace |
| I love the Etsy find on your short list. |

I don't know, OP, all the thin gold necklaces look alike to me. I sat opposite someone at the Thanksgiving table with a thin gold chain and some sort of tiny pendant... and it looked really ordinary and boring. They all do.
So you should pick out the one that makes YOU happy. No one else will care. |
Me again. If I were you, I'd look for an unusual chain, with a different geometry that the same-same links. Then maybe look for a pendant to attach to it. A jeweler can do that for you. |
| I like the first one you posted. |
| I like the third one you posted a lot, but I also agree with PP who said you're the only one who's going to notice or care so pick something that you love. |

OP Here: Thanks for all the responses! I especially appreciate people who posted links. I hear your feedback that gold pendants are boring. Can anyone suggest something more interesting that would still look good with V necks and sticking with the yellow gold color palette?
Are these any cooler? https://www.saksoff5th.com/product/saks-fifth-avenue-ophol-14k-yellow-gold-triangle-pendant-necklace-0400088453987.html?dwvar_0400088453987_color=NO_COLOR https://www.saksoff5th.com/product/zoë-chicco-geometric-14k-yellow-gold--amp--oxidized-silver-pendant-chain-necklace-0400020558110.html?dwvar_0400020558110_color=NO_COLOR https://www.saksoff5th.com/product/saks-fifth-avenue-14k-yellow-gold-rope-chain-necklace-0400021112545.html?dwvar_0400021112545_color=NO_COLOR |
| Go to Tiny Jewel Box website in DC and seat for gold necklaces under $1k. They have unusual and beautiful disc necklaces and a pretty paper clip necklace. This is quality 18k gold. I feel like you are trying too hard with your off 5th choices. |
| Where do you live? Nordstrom rack in shady grove exit 8 has a delicate gold lariat necklace on the mark down and it’s 40% off I think it’s less than $150. They had 3 colors of gold. |
They have no yellow gold under $500, which is OP's budget limit. |
+1 |
| I like the last two. |

OP,
Seriously. If you really want something to wear every day, you should have a strong feeling towards one necklace in particular, instead of asking other people's opinions. I wanted a ring to wear daily, and looked high and low for an entire YEAR before I found a ring I absolutely love. I only care about whether I like my ring, not whether other people like my ring. |
