Need advise on a top luxury hotel in London

Anonymous
The last time I was in London I was 16 and haven't been back since. Looking to surprise my husband for his 55th bday with a 4 day trip. Want to stay in a top luxury hotel, I recognize there are many. I want one that also has good proximity to shops, restaurants, a good "walking hotel". any recommendations please let me know (planning in for mid Dec)

also any great restaurant recommendations am all ears!

Good advice - the Mayfair neighborhood probably best fits what OP is looking for Green Park is on the southern end, Bond Street on the northern end.

Maybe old fashioned, but how about Mandarin Oriental? I recently stayed across street at the tower plaza (a bit old), and loved the location. Right on Hyde Park and in the middle of Knightsbridge shopping.

I got an amazing massage at the mandarin.

I would say the Four Seasons, Claridge’s, Corinthia, or the Connaught

^depending on the vibe you want

Just 4 days, or will you then go on to visit somewhere else in Europe?
Don't forget that flights leave at night and then arrive early in the morning in London, but jetlag can be rough on an aging body so you might not be able to stay awake and enjoying the day like you could when you were 16.

+1. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Also has a wonderful spa free to guests that’s really nice after a day of sight-seeing.

We have started to reserve the room for the night before, alerting that we will end up showing up around 8 or 9am.

Anyone have any experience with the Cadogan? Seems down a notch from Claridge’s but still potentially nice.
