House guest who sleeps in

Anonymous
My house guest is still asleep. I have been awake for two hours and am starving. Plus I had planned to take him out to lunch, but now we won’t have breakfast until 11. Ugh!

clearly he doesn't need breakfast, so just eat something light now and then have lunch out.

Why are you waiting for him to eat your breakfast? Eat and take him out for lunch as planned. It will be his breakfast. This is what my kid from college does.

House guest is rude. Do your own thing as if they were not there.

You eat now and then go to lunch later. NBD.

You clearly shouldn’t have houseguests if you’re this uptight. Unclench. Eat something and go out when they wake up.

They must have missed the memo demanding an early wake up. Tonight just sneak in and set an alarm for them. That’s what every good host does

Why are you so dramatic? You are an adult. If you’re hungry, eat something.

The smell of bacon cooking will wake up anyone.

I do not wait on house guests for breakfast. Anyone who sleeps in past 9:00am is on their own for breakfast.

Yup. You know you better get down there before they eat it all

OP, did you discuss going out to lunch and when you'd do it?

If not, you and the guest can make plans when they get up. If you did, they probably thought, "OK, we're going to lunch at 1, I should get up at 12:30 to shower"

I'm an early riser, so I just go about my day and enjoy the time to myself before anyone else is up.
