Best VIN lookup for accident?

Anonymous
I found a used car through TruCar an saw it had one accident. I asked the dealer and they told me there is "no more damage." That isn't what I was asking. Even if the car was repaired I want to know the damage.

I'm thinking of getting one of those verification reports online. Any good recommendations? Or do I skip this and forget the car?

Carfax.

Then get a mechaninc you trust to chedck it out. They can put it on a lift and look for any signs of major issues.

Neither Carfax nor Autocheck will give you details of an accident, just the level of damage. Plus both are guides not bibles.

I agree with PP, best bet is to check it over yourself and if it passes your eye check, take it to mechanic for pre-purchase inspection.

Some accidents can be superficial while others worse. Accidents that say car wasn’t drivable or that airbags were deployed are passes for me.
