catering heaters

Hi-We were gifted those stainless steel catering trays that keep everything warm and are thinking of trying out. I have a question. I have purchased some sides from Whole Foods and wonder if I can just put the food in the trays or do I have to heat in microwave and then put in the trays. FWIW the sides are already precooked. Feel dumb for asking but this is a first and would be so helpful if I can just put everything in. TIA

They should be warm when you put them in the stenos. Food won’t cook in there but it keeps it warm.

OMG FYI these catering heaters are the best. I think they were the best gift ever. I was able to get everything done and for one all the food were hot even for seconds!! I am thinking this will be my new wedding gift!!
