Help - party planning: food

Anonymous
Hi, I am hosting a going away party for about 30 people (mix of families with kids ages 5-10. Due to a death in my husbands family, will be doing all of the preparations myself. I am ordering chipotle catering because I know it will work for the various dietary restrictions but could really use help for ideas for appetizers, drinks, and desserts. Was thinking I could go to Costco to get things like cheese, meats, fruits, veggies. I also have a recipe for rosemary spiced cashews that would be easy to prep in advance. Any other appetizer ideas? What about a punch that I could prep in advance? Sorry for all the questions but I am already a nervous host and not having any help is putting me into a state of panic (but don’t want to cancel the party!). Thank you and happy thanksgiving!

Those are all great ideas. I don't know anyone who drinks punch. Get bottled water and some sodas/ice teas, and beer/wine if you all drink that.

Costco has lots of good cakes, pies, cookie trays. You'll be fine!

Cheese. Almost everybody loves cheese.

Punch is a good idea. 1 booze 1 teetotaler

Kids will not want rosemary spiced cashews. Get mixed nuts from Trader Joe’s, plus olives, crackers, cheeses, etc. Make an alcoholic pomegranate drink for adults and apple juice for kids. Water for everyone.

Children are the only ones who drink punch.

Trader Joe’s has a bunch of great appetizers and mixed nuts.

What about guac and chips? I'd get a bunch of coronas and make some margaritas or buy a mixer from a mexican place and just add tequila.

Appreciate the suggestions everyone!!! A Christmas themed margarita will be fun to add!
