DCI to Deal

| Did anyone start at DCI and switch to Deal? If so, could you share why and how it’s going at Deal? |

You probably aren't going to get many responses to this because there are only a small group of students who can easily do this, without entering the lottery. Those that are WOTP who are in boundary for Deal or come from a Deal feeder but chose DCI over Deal and those in 16th Street Heights who are grandfathered into Deal. There are a lot of DCI kids in these 16th St Heights neighborhoods. Everyone else has to lottery in. And looking at retention data, there aren't many DCI students who leave during MS. More students leave during the HS transition.
Anecdotally, we are a DCI family in 16th St. Heights who considered Deal. But we couldn't see enough value for Deal to override the proximity of DCI and the fact that all our DC's friends were going to DCI. Once we were in MS we never looked back and reconsidered Deal or regretted our decision. |
