| I just came home to 3 photo tickets today. 2 Were on the same stretch of road on same time and day for doing 36 in a 25mph. The other was for not stopping at a stop sign, although the picture shows me stopping (I always count to 4) then going. I have gotten so many of these tickets this year the price is killing me. I try to be so careful. I am seriously considering trying those license covers. I can't continue this way. I try to avoid certain streets with double stop signs because I feel like I always get tickets there. I probably stop too long. |
They probably ticketed you for obstructing traffic. Four seconds at a stop sign with no one else there is something, I guess. Were you baked out of your mind? |
| I got one for going 17 in a 15 in Virginia. |
Regardless of what you say, going 44% over the speed limit when you're trying to be so careful has me trusting the validity of the ticket for failure to stop. That said, is there a link to video showing that you stopped? |
|
I have gotten them but not that many at once! I have learned where the tricky ones (meaning where the limit is weirdly low for where it is and therefore where it's easy to speed without realizing it because you aren't actually going very fast, especially if traveling at a time when there is little traffic) and know to go slow through them. It's dumb but whatever I guess.
It makes me mad that out of state drivers don't pay these fines though. |
| You can request the video for the stop sign. If you really think you are in the right, you can contest it. |
| I got a few when they were doing work with flag man waving us through the stop sign. Contested and they agreed. |
| I just got 4 in the mail. Time to try one of those plate covers that I see 80% of drivers using. |
| I just use the Waze and let the app tell me when the speed camera is coming. |
| 36 in a 25 is not “being careful.” |
|
stop sign cams have a video. look at the video. I guarantee that you did not stop AT THE WHITE LINE.
which is where you are supposed to stop. I handle ticket payments for a fleet of vehicles. not un common to have the same vehicle transiting a stretch of read to have several tickets back to back on the same road with in minutes of each other... gotta pay the speed tax.... |
For the driver's license test in MD, you have to stop for 3 seconds. It is a long time but that is the rule. Part of the problem is we are all used to more like a slow down where your wheels are not actually stopped at all. |
| But the question remains: are the license plate covers legal? Do they work? |
+1 many of them are triggered at 7mph over the limit. I think MacArthur and CT Ave for example. |
| It is a tax on responsible drivers who will actually pay tye tickets. There are plenty of criminals in dc who don’t ever pay, and nothing happens to them. It’s absolutely ridiculous, and I don’t see why you shouldn’t get a license cover. I go very slow where I know there are cameras, and I also try to drive a lot less. Also contest those stop sign tickets, and the one that’s on the same stretch of road, there shouldn’t be two tickets. |
