Do I stop watering now? DC Area

Anonymous
I re-landscaped this spring 2024 - lots of new shrubs, ground cover, a few perennials, and 3 new trees. The trees have water bags. Do I remove the water bags now? Or should I keep watering since we haven’t really had a freeze yet? Do I need to keep giving the shrubs a good soak r
Or running the sprinkler? No irrigation system and I’m in the DMV.

You car going to have to shut off your outside faucets and open them to drain very soon. Give everything one last water. The bags will freeze. Remove them.

In MoCo the hard frost is predicted to arrive over the weekend. Plan accordingly.

We are less than a week away from the first good freeze. You can probably wrap it up for the season.

Do you understand about the outside faucets, OP?
Turn off from inside, then detach hose and open exterior faucet. Leave it.

Water when it is dry. Even in the winter.
Wet soil doesn't kill plants when it freezes, dry soil does.
