pathogens are baked into the vegetables because they grew in tainted soil. There’s no washing that off.

As for contaminated soils, you probably don't want to look up farming methods used in Mexico, Brazil, India, etc. I remember seeing
human liquified feces put on vegetable crops as a kid, raw, not cooked. Still a common practice today.
