Dca parking questions walk from garage 2 to terminal 1

Anonymous
The garage for SW is full for reservations but garage 2 is still open. Is it easy to walk from garage 2 to terminal 1?

I would rather just park since we have to pick up kids from school. This will be Monday around 4pm if that matters.

Yes I would go into the terminal and just walk over to T1. If you walk all the way down to the south end of T2 they are connected via a long corridor.

It is a longer walk then I thought it should be but just leave time.

Yeah that sounds about right. There's a bit of up and down to go down under the road between G1 and T1.

Do you not want to park in long term parking? It's pretty quick to get you right to Terminal 1.

It’s easy just leave an extra 10-15 minutes. There’s a long hallway inside.

You’d have to be a pretty fast walker I think. It’s pretty far and often pretty deserted but it is indoors. I did it last year on New Year’s Eve right about midnight and I didn’t see another person for the whole walk. If there’s a way to drop the kids with one parents so they don’t have to do the walk, I’d do that, unless they are teens or older kids who can walk fast with all their stuff.

You might also do long-term parking and just get dropped off at T1. It would be the first stop.

I am not sure what this PP is saying. You literally take the elevator from the parking garage into T2 then a long hallway to T1. Yes you do walk but there is art along the way.

Yeah I guess you can go that way. When I did it I walked from G2 to G1, then went into the tunnel under the roadway, which deposits you in the historic terminal right next to the entry to T1. I think it's a bit shorter, but probably not significantly so.

+ 1. Reagan is the best.

You can walk between the 2 as others mentioned- there is also a shuttle that runs every 10 minutes so that might be easier.

Ok I get it now. Yes that is a way too. Just go into the terminal. Connected and easy.
