invited for a college visit - but no interest in school

Anonymous
DC is a junior just starting to attract D1 attention. First invite from a school DC likely has zero interest in, but kid feels it’s a perfect opportunity to go through the motions so they can experience/understand the recruitment process, learn how to speak with coaches, ask questions etc. We are pretty hands off parents with sports and only look to course correct when asked by DC. Any strong sentiment one way or another for allowing this visit?

Great idea to go. It’s the same as getting practice interviewing when you’re not interested in the company!

For all you know the interest is tepid in both directions

The only thing is for my kids’ sport she’s limited to 5 official visits. Not sure if that’s true for all sports. Sobthis is wasting a visit if there’s really no interest.

that’s why coach reached out to the kid - the negativity and schadenfreude on this site is mind boggling

Depends on if it's an official visit or not.

If it counts toward a limited number of official visits then no, but otherwise yes, your kid has the right idea to use it as a dry run for schools they are more interested in.
