Christmas Novella

I just read The Christmas Guest by Peter Swanson, a mystery novella. The shorter format was so easy to finish without losing the thread of the plot. I’d love to hear your favorite shorter books.

I posted this, and I'm already here to walk back the suggestion. I started Merry Ever After by Tessa Bailey, and it's terrible. You can find better short stories in the back of a Penthouse. I'm not a prude, but it's really pretty awful. It's not the light Christmas novella you are looking for.

I have two in a different vein, but that I pack away with my Christmas decorations and read every year.

Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
The Frozen Thames by Helen Humphreys

Thanks! I’ll look those up.

I try to read A Christmas Carol each year.

It's not a novella, but I'm using this opportunity to plug an amazing Christmas short story: A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote

It's a short story, but I just finished Trollope's "Christmas at Thompson Hall" and it was really fun.
