| DD got an email with specifics about an interview for Princeton and even the name of the alumnus. We know he’s local and even have friends in common, based on quick google. But he hasn’t reached out and I’m wondering what to do. What if he never does? Should DD reach out to Princeton? To him? That’s obviously creepy but possible. She stressing and very eager to interview, knowing early decisions could be out early to mid December and she doesn’t want to miss a window to interview. Common data set says interview is considered but not important. |
| When did you get the email? Early December is almost 3 weeks away. Wait until after Thanksgiving to reach out to Admissions and ask if there's any action you need to take. |
|
How long has it been?
If the official email that gave the info included contact information, your DD could reach out to the interviewer, but if you are gleaning the contact info from googling and finding friends in common, no. Be sure you’ve checked spam folders. Then if it’s been a week or more, your DD could email the AO to say she hasn’t heard anything and would like to be sure the communication hasn’t gone astray because she is excited about Z University and appreciates the chance to talk with Mr. X about it. |
| I agree, wait a week and then contact your AO. I interview for Stanford and, in our intro email, we are told to ask students not to network with anyone who may know us to keep the process fair for all applicants. If you reach out through mutual connections, the interviewer may need to request to be reassigned. I know I would. And with limited interviewers, it may be difficult to get another assigned. Please be patient and inquire through admissions! |
| I just reread your original message - also please don’t reach out directly! That might also risk a reassignment. |
| These interviews often have little effect for the applicant. |
| Ask admissions office tomorrow. I interview for a top 10 and for ED, I must have all interviews completed by next Friday and reports turned in too. |
| Do not bug the interviewer. They will get annoyed. And it should beyour kid who does that, not you. Princeton interviews mean nothing |
| Any news? |
If they mean nothing than why care? |
| Just wait and do nothing except check spam folder. My D has a similar situation. |
Yes. The person reached out. Interview set for first week of December, so I guess their deadline is a little later than PPs. |
