It seems like folks here love the BOB stroller...why the BOB as opposed to Valco, Baby Jogger, Mountain Buggy, or Phil & Ted's? Just curious

Maybe monkey see, monkey do? (I've never even heard of a BOB.)

BOB, Urban Mountain Buggy and Phil&Ted's are all great choices that are really easy to maneuver. I have a much cheaper brand double stroller (not any of those) and honestly it sucks. If I had $500 to spend on a stroller, I'd get any of those - I have tried both the BOB and the Urban Mountain Buggy and they're pretty much the same. The P&T is good if you only need a part-time extra seat (the lower kid gets the crappy view and might not want to stay in) but it is smaller, so better for crowded spaces.
single bob is about 350. I have had bugaboo, bee, mountain urban, sit and stand, McClaren. Bob is my favorite. It folds easily, unlike the bugaboo, it holds up to 70lbs, bugaboo max is 40. steers like a charm. You can lock the wheel for more stability when running. And my favorite part of the Bob is I use it as a double stroller when I need to, my first sits on the front. . Still easy to steer. McClaren I think is good for mall or travel. Just an over priced nice umbrella stroller to me. I think the Phil and Ted is a good stroller, I would not like the baby under seat, but that is just me. My friend has the double bob ($500) and loves it. The Mountain buggy does not fold as small as the Bob. Good stroller, but I think Bob is better. Good luck

I agree, it is SUPER easy to steer, one handed, folds small enough to fit it the back of my VW Golf, and I too have used it as a double on occasion. It is not your choice for your everyday, go to the mall stroller, as it is bigger and not the easiest to maneuver, but if you are active walking/running a lot you will love it.
PS I got mine on Craig's list brand new for $100 less than they retail, so look around and you might luck out. |
We got the BOB Revolution and we love it.. super easy to steer, push, has storage underneath and easy to fold..just watch that third wheel... I have gotten marks on my pants foldig it up for the car. We always get compliments on it whenever we are out.
Are the handle bars on the Bob adjustable?
The BOB is definitely one of the best jogging strollers out there. I did a ton of research on jogging strollers and went with the BOB after reading about a family who hiked to the top of Diamond Head in Hawaii with the BOB. It handles easily and seems to be comfortable for baby. I have friends who have other joggers and they just don't seem to handle as well as my BOB.
The handle bars are not adjustable, but I am 5'10 and have no problems with them
OP here---thanks for the feedback! I'm actually quite short and my husband is tall so I think an adjustable handlebar is a must. If we'd be using it for long walks on bumpy sidewalks/suburban roads (as opposed to jogging) are there other strollers that might be a better fit? I've heard that Valco and Baby Joggers have a "jump seat" that you can add on eventually to make the stroller a double...anyone know anything about that?
I always thought BOB meant "belly over belt" as in a man with a pot-belly...
