Where to stay when visiting Tulane

Doing a quick trip to Tulane and would love recommendations on where to stay and a fun restaurant or two that my teen would enjoy. Thanks!

We stayed downtown and took the streetcar to Tulane for the tour.

We stayed at the Marriot near the French Quarter.

Agree. Or, stay on the edge or in the French Quarter and use the streetcar. We often stay at the Omni Royale or the Monteleone.

There are a lot of fun hotels uptown and garden district like The Chloe and the Columns near Tulane. The Ace Hotel is good downtown. Commanders Palace for dinner or lunch is fun if this is your first visit. La Boulangerie and Gracious Bakery are great for causal breakfast and lunch and are easily accessible from street car. NOLA is so fun. Enjoy!

I recommend staying along the streetcar line on St Charles, either in a hotel or airbnb. It’s a fun way to see the city but very inefficient so always budget extra time. Shaya is a great restaurant on a fun stretch of Magazine street. I recommend walking around Audubon park & the surrounding neighborhoods, too.

Shaya was recommended on here and it did not disappoint! We stayed in the Warehouse district and took an Uber to campus for the tour. The streetcar is good for going back.

The Chloe or the St. Vincent. Shaya, Pesce or Le Petite Grocery for dinner.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn on St. Charles Ave and took the street car to the school, which was fun. The other thing we did was hire a guide for a half day tour of New Orleans because DC had never been to the city. It was raining out which sucked but having someone drive us around was a good thing.

I love New Orleans and I love Tulane; I went to law school there.

My fave restaurant is close to the Tulane campus -- it's Jacques Imo's. Prepare to wait, though. Must do is Cafe du Monde for cafe au lait and beignets -- people say it is touristy, but I went most weekends when I lived in NOLA. Audubon Park is adjacent to Tulane's campus, and the zoo is adjacent to the park. If you feel like Italian, I love Irene's. And I don't go to NOLA without a trip to Commander's Palace.

Personally, I would try to stay at The Columns. But that might not be what you are looking for. If not, just find somewhere that you like in the Quarter. Big budget -- consider Hotel Monteleone and the Windsor Court. For a lower budget, I like Place d'Armes and Hotel Mazarin. Ponchartrain is closer to Tulane.

You have to be 21 to go into Cooter’s! Was there a few weeks back and saw a few dads eating outside with the kids on a football Sunday.

For dinner try Compere Lapin - the coconut grits with the fried chicken is AMAZING. Best bite I’ve eaten all year.
