What's a feature that builder grade homes never get and custom homes can get (DC Row Homes)?

I'm thinking things that are either to time consuming, require some sort of additional approval or whatever that the flippers doing builder grade work never consider but when the home goes to resale will be attractive to the next buyer.

Flippers usually get all the visible things buyers care about. Where they cut corners is usually inside the walls or in the subfloor or some other less visible place. This is the whole basis for their business model.

Great insulation, a 5 stage Heat pump hvac system…

Like the previous poster said, it’s the stuff you don’t see when walking around.

Custom homes aren't immune from this either.

A spec builder will add features that add more to the sale price than they cost. That is the sum total of their calculus. When you talk about features that "when the home goes to resale will be attractive to the next buyer" what you really mean is won't hurt the resale value too terribly.
