U11 DS belongs to a year round soccer team, but the fall season ended and will be just one practice per week till the next season starts.
Would it be okay to participate in a winter camp/skills clinic on a different league/organization? I want him to be active during winter break and weekends. Just kind of worried whether you are allowed to do to go to different organizations while you belong elsewhere… |

You are allowed, and reasonable coaches will not care. Also look into Futsal practices and leagues if you'd like to be inside some!
Some crazy coaches/clubs will get stupid if they know you are doing things elsewhere - but really, they aren't tracking our kids at that age unless they are absolute standouts. Just don't rub their faces in it. |

Some kids do use the winter time period to look at and practice with other clubs they are interested in, this is why your coach may be suspicious.
But yes, it's totally normal to seek out training your club probably does not offer. (My club never offered anything above a rec level futsal clinic taught by non-futsal coaches.) We Have tried training at 5 or 6 different clubs over the winter periods just to get technical training that our club did not, could not, or would not teach. I would try to coordinate the training with a friend. My kid really wanter a buddy to go with, it made big difference in motivation. There are no rules prohibiting this. |
| I would look at non club affiliated clinics. But I don't think it matters if you end up with another club for winter things. You're committed to the team and thats fine to spend some free time elsewhere too. |

Thank you!!
He will not miss any of the regular team practice and they do not provide additional winter clinics/camps. Just want him to have some skill trainings (and not glued to the ipad gaming during winter breaks) |
