Homemade baked beans in oven or crock pot

Anyone have a good recipe? Thanks

Funny that you should ask: this morning I got out my Yellow Farmhouse Cookbook (by Christopher Kimball of America's Test Kitchen) for my go-to recipe for baked beans. It's a great recipe. My daughter was asking for baked beans even though it's too hot to bake, so I'm using my thermal cooker (similar to cooking in a crock pot, but the beans are held at cooking temp by the thermos in which you put the pot after bringing all to a boil).

I like Paula Deens which I found on foodnetwork. She only bakes hers for about 30 min but I cook mine for around 2 hours to get them really yummy.

If you've got a long time--Julia Child from The Way to Cook. She starts with dried beans and a crockpot, no soaking, no boiling. I didn't find them quite sweet enough for my taste, but it was easy enough to add more molasses towards the end.

So I made this one, but added salt pork. Actually it was something like ham hocks because I couldn't find salt pork at safeway. They came out with a kind of a bitter aftertaste. I tasted them with about 2 hours left so I added some brown sugar, more molasses, salt and a little BBQ sauce. They came out good, maybe I will just add the sugar at the beginning next time.

To the 11:52 poster, can you post the recipe? It would be nice to compare the 2 and see what is different

Thanks everyone!
