| Our ES has open house next week for parents to observe what their kids do in the classroom. I have 3 kids in the ES, and I happen to be free that day if I want to attend open house. I don't know if teachers likes it or not and parents may cause some disturbance/chaos when they teach. What do parents expect to do during this kind of open house ? Interaction with kids or just stand in the back to observe quietly without causing any interruptions. I am debating if I should go or not. |
| Please don't engage in sidebar conversation with your fellow parents if they too attend. That is distracting and teachers do not like it! |
It tends to be the former for the lower elementary grades, and the latter for the higher grades. |
| Stand back and watch quietly usually. |
| You just sit there and watch. Honestly it is super awkward but my kids like me to go so I do. |
| Keep your kids home to be away from the parents who visit. Eww. |
In ES the parents definitely visit. |
| You sit in the back and watch. And at least for the elementary students, you will not find them engaging in their typical behaviors while parents are there. |
| Parents who attended were you happy, disappointed or saw what you expected? |
