I know we shouldn't expect it to function at its current capacity, which was already diminished thanks to the last time Trump was in office, but do you think it will survive? Be sold off and privatized? Left alone because the damage last time did not actually benefit any wealthy conservatives?
I'm predicting they will cripple it again and sell it at low cost to a Trump donor willing to take it on as a business. |
| Hopefully they privatize it. I'm glad that I live in a city. |
|
We don't need it anymore. They deliver junk mail 99% of the time.
Or privatize it. Other countries have and it is fine. The USPS loses billions of dollars per year and has been obsolete for about the last 35 years. |
| You really drink the kool-aid. Destroying mail sorting machines and all the other destructive changes made last time only inflates costs. It's not a service I want run by a partisan group with the m.o. of always getting into the personal lives of others. |
| It will be just fine. Jfc. |
| Maybe people will come around to the idea that privatizing everything is not a good thing when they have to mail out something that used to cost 60 cents, and instead have to pay 7 dollars to FedEx/UPS/DHL whatever. |

Trump is looking to privatize.
I hope rural voters are looking forward to their once a week delivery. |
| The Postal Service was created by Benjamin Franklin. It was a vital component piece to nation-building and creating a cohesive economy. |

The counties where housing is the most densely packed supported Harris by 16 points. The places it's the most spread out backed Trump by 53 points — places that would likely see big jumps in rates if Trump actually privatizes USPS. |
It’s also mandated in the Constitution. |
+1000 let the misery take its toll. |

You can't. It's an actual function of the government and it's listed in the U.S. Constitution. parts of it may be privatized, but overall, it'll still be a .gov department.
I will say this though. 50% of the federal taxes you pay go to service interest on the national debt THIS YEAR. I'm not talking about how much money we additionally create out of thin air to keep the gov going. I'm just talking about the collected taxes. We knew we would get to this point - it's just math. But things are about to get interesting. We're literally up against a wall on the federal budget NOW. |
Well we have a king now and that is not in the constitution. All you need is 5 votes on the Supreme Court to imagine the constitution. |
I live in a densely-populated suburb and really wouldn't miss it. The only things I ever send via USPS are birthday cards to my older relatives. |
|
I don't see the point of privatizing it. All of the profitable shipping has been picked of by UPS and FedEx.
The only point would be... to mess with mail in ballots. |
