Ugh. How many Reddit politics forum posts and political dcum posts can I read? Everyone’s got their own annoying hot take and is trying to big time every other opinion. People are so cocksure of themselves. I mean it’s laudable that so many can bloviate confidently out of their rear ends, but really no one knows who’s right.
The moral is…there is no moral. Or point. None of you know exactly why Trump won. None of your bickering about why you are RIGHT AND EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG helps anything. We got Trump because, well, that’s just what happened. |

Thank you. Agree 100%.
So sick of armchair political scientists who exploit any given political result to validate their own pathetic grievances and bugbears. It's absolutely ridiculous. |

Some people like talking about politics. Many others (like me) are just addicted to it even though we know it doesn't help.
I suspect many of the people who are most upset by the Trump win are, like me, privileged people with good lives. I absolutely think there are valid reasons to be stressed about what he will do as president. I worry very much about undocumented people and gender nonconforming people in my community and federal workers that will be targeted by his administration. But if I'm being honest, during his first presidency the worst thing for me was the stress of reading and listening to the news about all the ridiculous and hateful things he and his people said. My life overall was and continues to be great. And so my goal is to try to tune it out as much as possible and focus my energies on doing good in my community for those who are struggling (and my sense is their struggles are 80% independent of who is president). |
