So what did the principal find the intent for the noose other than hatred? 🤔 My best friend's child attended Sherwood and she said there were racially charged incidents that often occurred there and she felt uncomfortable there as a student of color. The noose was just too egregious to ignore.

Resembled a noose? So we have an outcry based on jumping to two conclusions: 1) that it was actually tied as a noose, and 2) that this was some kind of lynching threat.

It may not have been tied as a noose at all. And the sad reality is that if it was, it was likelier to be an attempted suicide than a lynching threat.

This is old news.

It was NOT a noose. It was not racially motivated.

The kid that constructed the noose actually attends Richard Montgomery. The 2 kids with him attend Sherwood. All 3 were seen on camera. Apparently it was more of a suicidal statement from that kid and not related to race. They were all Hispanic.

OP lives under a rock.

I am so confused at why a thread was started about something that happened two months ago that was almost immediately debunked as not being racial in nature. But carry on.

Because Sherwood and its families are hella racist, that’s why. It’s why they resisted joining the NEC back when, and why the students there actually shouted racist things to DCC school athletes. It’s a known fact and if this noose wasn’t really a noose, well, Sherwood is still racist AF.

That’s what I see too. It’s racist and the school doesn’t even take it seriously.

1. Locals didn’t want to put their kids in rush hour traffic to commute to NEC schools. If you lived here, you would understand the special kind of traffic we endure. Plus: Olney/Brookeville/Sandy Spring/Ashton enjoys a small town vibe worth preserving. We are a diverse community, but we are a well-connected one.

2. The incident you are referring to with sports had a backstory. It isn’t true that it was one-sided or started by Sherwood. Again, assumptions were made and nobody bothered to wait for the facts.

Anyway, it’s not anymore racist than any other mcps school. My kids have a very diverse group of friends.
